 Graduated in Architecture from the Escola Superior de Belas Artes of Lisbon in 1968.
Established his own office in 1975, receiving prizes in various Domestic and International Competitions.
Professor of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the Universidade de Coimbra.
Guest Professor at various Universities, namely the École Polytechnique Federale of Lausanne, Naples, the University of Lovaina, the École d’Architecture in Nancy, the Instituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia, Graz, the University of Harvard and the University of Navarra.
Honorary Doctorate from the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa.
